Environmental IQ
Sustainable living with energy conscious values has transitioned, residentially, from rare to lucrative in the past few years of the Gold Coast’s lifetime and with the rising costs of utilities and general living, it’s easy to understand the swelling of eco-friendly trends such as growing produce, building homes using recycled, local materials and self-generating water and electricity. When building a new home, renovating, extending and even buying and selling, often these carbon reducing endeavours create a sense of both being financially savvy as well as contributing to the planet. Being environmentally intelligent is something that dates back thousands of years, especially when considering how older, more primitive cultures survived in such harsh conditions.
The ancient cultures of the East, famous for their martial arts, used environmental energy balancing for survival in ‘kill or be killed’ societies. The difference between living or dieing in those times, was knowing where the clean water supply came from, where food could be easily obtained and without too much physical energy outlay, where rest and restoration of the body could be safely achieved and where families could thrive. These basic needs are really no different from ours today. We all need clean water, food, rest and safe environments for our families and we already know a more ‘back to basics’ approach to living, moving away from chemicals, toxins and processed foods significantly improves our health and our environment – So what else can we learn from this ancient civilisation, that grew into China, the world’s fastest growing economy, mass producer, exporter and where 25,000 new millionaires are created each week?
‘Feng Shui’ means ‘Wind Water’ which is a rather simplistic description of our environment, the air we breathe. The Chinese, and many other cultures and civilisations, believe that balancing harmoniously our environment, home and place of work, luck, prosperity and good fortune are able to enter and flow effortlessly into our lives, creating positive effects. Often the impact of Feng Shui speaks for itself, when often you hear of people moving house and suddenly they have a big promotion at work and more abundance flows into their lives, or sadly, a seemingly happy family move, only filing for divorce a month or so later!
Environmental IQ comes through knowing where in your home your financial energy resides and it’s current condition. It is generating positive or negative energy? Where health lives in the home and how that relates to all residents. Rest is very hard to achieve if you are sleeping in the Career Sector of a home, as you’ll often find you wake with work on your mind, preventing your body from fully recovering. Children too are heavily impacted by environmental energy, which often causes more chaos and upsets than necessary in a home environment. Once we have grasped that we all are energy and energy is all around us – in fact it’s all there is, knowledge and ability on how to make it work for you in your life starts to engage with alpha people eager to survive, to be successful, to be the best – to live and enjoy all the great things life has to offer, effortlessly.
And when considering the current state of the world economy, the countries and previous super-powers moments away from becoming fallen empires, it is no surprise we are all watching and learning from emerging counties, leaders of our tomorrows and asking how can we invest in our environmental IQ and build a better, brighter Queensland?
